Thanks again. There ARE lots of ways to skin a cat.

Caligari,
Thanks for the kind words. I too enjoy mucking around with DDs... :^)
For me on motors, it has never been about coreless vs cored but I do notice slotless vs slotted. However, I admit that I understand the potential weakness of cored motors when they are brought too close to their limit which is the source of my comment about the DP100. I don't know how close they get to that limit. As to the P3, I think we go back to semantics about whether the magnet coils are empty or not. I think Pioneer says it is coreless because it is ironless and therefore there is no possibility of saturation-induced cogging.

I have to say the P3 and DP100 are about the smoothest DD tables I have come across. The detail available with the right cart is awesome. Some of this is due to the onboard suspension I am sure. Above and beyond motor technology selection, I have come to respect the implementation/execution total given a certain price target. Some tables did that very well. Some went to a very high price to get everything right.

I expect if one wanted to build an Exclusive P3 or Denon DP100 these days, it would have an MSRP somewhere up in the same territory as the Beat if not more.

Some day I'd love to hear a Beat.
