Whopee! Located A Rare Cartridge....Thought I Would Share

On the Gon it popped up, and I happened to log on a few minutes afterwards.

There it was an Accuphase AC3 in excellent condition, with box and papers.

I looked at it and wrestled with my decision. I already own an AC 1 that was rebuilt by Expert Stylus Company.

But this is an AC3! Rarest of the Accuphase cartridges, and to the best of my knowledge the final model produced. Count Hiroyoshi designed the AC line, and the 3 was reputed to be the best of them.

I hit the buy it now button. Telling myself that if the AC3 is better than the one I have, well then I just put the AC1 up for sale.

I really like this BIN option on Audiogon, it takes a lot of the monkey business of multiple buyers, and who was the first to respond.

Gotta send payment off tomorrow, and within a few days the little gem will be mine.

Thought I would share an interesting find. I have been watching for an AC3 for a couple of years now, and they never come available. Just used up a decent portion of my audio luck.

Hopefully sometime this month my Pete Riggle 12 inch String Theory arm will be done, and I can get it mounted on my Serac. Actually I was over at Pete's place the other week, and got to see a 10 inch version that was almost finished. The arm is prettier than I had thought, the pics really do not do it justice. A lot of thoughtful choices went into the layout of this arm, I am really interested in hearing how it performs on my table.
