I remember Thom Mackris from the time I met him at VSAC. Thom is very passionate about his analog playback, and I always wanted to try one of his products.
This year I decided to re-enter analog, and came across a used Townshend Rock Mk III. A very good table, but not really what I was looking for.
I prefer high mass non-suspended tables, and decided to look for candidates. From my perspective the Serac appears to be one of the high value offerings in this category, and while not inexpensive, certainly you get a lot for your money.
I also have on order an early production Pete Riggle 12 inch String Theory arm. My current cartridge is an Accuphase AC1 that has been refurbished by Expert Stylus Company.
Curious to know how this combination is going to work out. I currently have a loaner Jelco arm in the system, and the whole kit is not too bad. Hoping there are still significant gains to be realized from the 12 inch wood arm though.
