As far as I know, the Wajima is one of 4 or 5 variants of the Urushi. The others would include the Blue, the Vermillon (red), the Tsugaru, and I guess there is an all-black one. Mine is either a Wajima or a Tsugaru; I forget which. (It is black with gold flakes in the lacquer). I have had mine for about 6 years, and I continue to be very fond of it. It may be true (or not) that other Koetsu's lack bass and extreme treble, but I think the Urushi is an exception. Besides producing a very adequate bass response (in both my Triplanar and in the Kenwood L07D tonearm), the Urushi has the delicious midrange associated with Kostsu's in general. As to differences among the Urushi body types, some may have silver coated copper coil wire, some may use a different magnet type (cobalt or not), but I find the literature too confusing to be sure what's what.
