RE: Just bought a SME 20/A

I have had one for a few years. It will sooth your itch. Take your time setting it up and dialing it in. Try both the hard and soft feet and try several types of platforms before you make any final assessments. I also went back and forth with regard to using the dampner, but now mostly use it all the time to one extent or another.
What are you planning to use for a cartidge(s)?

At the moment i'm using a SME Model 10 with a IV arm and Ortofon Cadenza Black cartridge. For the time being that arm and cartridge will be going on the Model 20 while the Model 10 comes into the study system and will have an Origin Live Sliver arm put on it as i have an adaptor to suit the Rega arms. Down the track as funds allow i'll investigate other arms for the 20 as the IV works superbly with the 10 and i'd like to put it back on that.

I spent ages when i bought the Model 10 finding the best support for it and made a heavy sandstone slab based stand that will go into the study so i'll be starting with a clean sheet when the Model 20 arrives. From the research i've done, the support doesn't appear to be quite as critical as for the 10 due to the 20s suspension. Time will tell.

*edit. I've just realised i said i've bought a 20/A, i meant to say i've bought a 20/2 without an arm.
