I'd echo this. Just completed a restoration of a 1969 model and all the rubber gaskets needed replacing. On the other hand, perhaps it means that this can be a potential problem on older cartridges requiring a rebuild of the suspension just like my car. Buying an older cartridge means taking the risk that it may require a rebuild to be useful.
