Vpi has good manuals for their products on their website. That's especially good for someone who may have bought used and didn't get one.
The instruction manual that came with my Typhoon clearly states under ‘instructions to avoid damage’ that the white hose clamp needs to be shut when cleaning records. It also says the same thing under VERY IMPORTANT POINTS at the beginning of the manual. The same warning was also in the manual for my 16.5.
The ‘instructions to avoid damage’ covers a number of things that should help in keeping things working well without any problems.
