Harry, Never inspecting the inside of a Typhoon, or the 17/17F, I would imagine there are differences, but would assume the Vacuum Motors basically all possess very similar characteristics with operation.
That these Motors of course are not exclusively designed-made for VPI RCM's solely, and that these types of motors see life in various industrial Carpet Cleaning Machines, Floor Scrubbing Machines, Wet-Dry Vacs, etc.
I know this, as I replaced a very similar Rotary Motor in a Tornado Floor Cleaning Machine about two years ago.
That fluids-aeresols corroded-rotted the Rotary Impeller Blade right off its Shaft.
I've on occasion heard of VPI users stating, that, "Hey, I just let the Recovery Tank Drain Hose empty into a Jar, or such".
I assume this compromises the vac system efficiency, as well as the Recovery Tank not properly doing it's job, to collect spent fluids, and that the Vac system needs to be sealed in order to work properly, correct?
Maybe "some" good can come from this thread, with some information of how, and how not to operate-use a VPI RCM?
I'm not wishing to pass judgement on anyone, or be further involved with such, for what was previously written in the other thread.
Common sense dictates that any machinery on earth can be mis-used.
That better knowledge-awareness may help alleviate others having such future problems with their RCMs. Mark
