The Townshend arm is called the Excalibur. They are fairly difficult to find on the used market, since they were never produced in large numbers. The Rock Mk III version was also sold with a Rega RB 300, so that is an option. The US importer set this particular table up with a Moerch, although the previous owner separated the arm from the table.
The word on the street is that the trough will elevate the performance of all but the very best arms. So in theory....at least according to other Rock owners....a reasonably priced arm can be competitive with an excellent arm. Allowing the owner to invest money into the cartridge instead of the arm. We will see how that works out.
Thinking about the WT arm though. The silicone cup isn't situated to optimally dampen the arm tube or deal with head shell/cartridge resonances. While the trough is. Might work, might not. But my gut instinct is that you would be correct.
