Gregg:I'm in the same situation you are, except my floor is concrete slab. If I were doing a wall mount shelf, than of course I would NOT
attempt the Grizzly granite slab! Steve seems to have struck an optimal compromise with his homemade MDF platform, which at 50 lbs is no featherweight, but still workable with his shelf mounting system. Check his excellent website out. Far as the platter upgrade,
that's always a possibility, but I'm gonna have to cool it for a few years :)
