While I've finally mounted my slightly more expensive Transfiguration Spirit in place of my Lyra Lydian B, I don't think that one can go wrong using the Lyra cart unless they really like the gravy with their vinyl presentation. I took the two plus year old Lydian B over and mounted on a buddy's RB900/Avid Volvere rig and it still sounds quite nice in his system, too.I hear a bit more low level info with the Spirit and the treble sounds just a tad more delicate, but it is 50% more money than the Lyra. Plus, the Transfig. is slightly less sensitive than the Lyra and my 62 db of gain from the SF Phono 1 SE is boarderline adequate. The Lyra was safer in this circumstance.
I'm curious about the Shelters, but auditioning carts is a tough row to hoe and going with people's advice seems to be the norm in this facet of our hobby.
Anyway, the poster should look into the Lydian B as you suggest.
Chris
