I think one of the logical canidates should be the Dynavector 17DII at $750 or so. Since you like the Dyna sound, this cartridge should outperform your 10x4 by a good margin. It has a short cantaliver, 1.7 mm formed out od diamond, and it can extract detail out of a record without being bright. Of course the Shelter's should fall in your price range. And there is alot of good things to be said about them. I have heard of some 17DII owners who prefer it to the Dyna. I am sure others can give you a few alternatives, but these are ones I would consider at below 1K.Regards
