Audiogon Experiences

I too have bought almost all my system off of the net. I was recently looking at a new pair of speakers, and had a balky seller. He wanted pre payment of almost 2k, and I am sorry but I won't send anyone that kind of cash. He also was reluctant to use an escrow service. I figuired that he was not the kind of seller I would feel comfortable with. When I told him I was purchasing an alternate pair, he became alot more agreeable. But by then I had made up my mind. If you can't get a phone number, photo, or some kind of assurance you are buying a product in good condition I would pass. One thing I have found in internet sales is that you are purchasing someone's ability to pack. This is not a trivial matter. I have bought items that were poorly packed, and damaged in shipping. Fortunately insurance or the seller have covered the repair costs. But people who are passionate about audio and care about their gear are going to pack it well enough to survive shipping. Anyways, I would keep looking, what you want will come up for sale again. Or if you are open to other brands, then just keep your options open.
