It is a luck of draw. I brought a MC step up transformer from an Audiogon seller. Went to his house and pick it up without open it up and exame it. I thought that the house worth few millions dollar so the guy shouldn't rip me off for few thousand. I was wrong. After few month, when I finally tire of fixing the hum problem, I sent the unit to the dealer and was told that the unit had been modified and two step-up transformer coils were missing. I notify the seller and file compliant thru. Audiogon. He, a lawyer, refuse for refund and said will sue me if I keep posting negative feedback.Anyway. My point is even the guy is nice and reply all your emails and questions. You still might get bad experience.
