To take advantage of all recordings you need both digital and analog

Although all things being equal, I like to listen to my Rega Planar 3 / RB300 / Elys more than my Linn Genki CD player, from a practical standpoint, I probably use both of them about equally.

Why?

Well, I don't always have the option of purchasing a newly-released recording on vinyl. And, with a library of about 1,200 albums and 400 CD's (which reflects by bias), it would be a mistake for me to sacrifice the listenability of either. In terms of purchases, I'm probably about 50/50 now for vinyl and cd. I won't, however, jump into the SACD world until an increase in software availability justifies the purchase. Or, for that matter, until an SACD player has a CD stage that significantly outperforms the one in my Genki.

So, yes, I like the Planar 3 better than the Genki. I also plan to upgrade the Planar 3 to an LP12, which I'm sure I'll like even more.

I, do, however, like the Genki as well, and am capable of enjoying music with it. I'd bet that almost every turntable enthusiast here spends a substantial fraction of their time listening to CD's.
