In Reply to: Vinyl Fans - What expensive digital products do you like less than your less expensive TT? posted by Don T on June 5, 2002 at 13:23:37:
Anyone else have similar experiences with CDP giant killer low cost TTs. I'm looking for specifics, brand names, models, etc.
Why? Why does this information really matter to you? Obviously you have a turntable that you thoroughly enjoy. And it is in my opinion a very nice one. It seems to me that all you are interested in is starting a thread where you can talk bad about the digital format. You know I have read your posts over the last couple of months, and I don't think I have come across one that isn't laced with negativity, or is just plain nasty. It seems to me that all you are trying to accomplish with this post is create another strawman arguement that you can knock down. Isn't it a generally accepted fact that the inmates on the vinyl board believe that given whatever shortcomings vinyl may have as a medium, when it's well recorded vinyl has always been superior to what comes off a cd?Personally I prefer my turntable over my digital rig. A Terres Audio table, with Eminent Technology 2 arm, Dynavector KARAT cartridge. The digital is a Sony SCD-777ES. But you know what, I still think the Sony is a nice sounding machine, and I can sit back and listen to it for an evening and be thoroughly satisfied. But I guess I can't really weigh in on this thread because my analog rig does cost more then my digital.
Lat time I checked this hobby was supposed to be about music. And since new music is being released primarily on cd, I feel that owning a cd player is a necessity. I bought one I could afford and enjoy, so to quote Bobby McFerren..."Don't Worry, Be Happy."You know the last thing I want to do is sit down in front of my rig for an evening listening session, and think that my digital rig really sucks(which it dosen't), i don;t think it would make for a very enjoyable listening session.
