I have Dynaco CVD-2 tube output CD Player and a Dual CS5000 with an Ortofon X3 high output MC on it. With good recordings I get great enjoyment out of both of them. At low to moderately high listening levels I might prefer the sound of the TT or maybe I just like the mechanical nature of the beast. With really good recordings at high to quite high listening levels the additional 10 to 20 db of SN ratio sometimes gives the CD an edge. Its hard to get the illusion of live when the surface noise gets too noticeable.P.S. The Dynaco CD player got ignored by the audio press and died from lack of sales but try to find one on Ebay. Those of us lucky enought to have one don't give them up.
