RE: A Discussion About What Level Of Analog To Stop At Given Room Effects

The last two houses I bought were selected to optimize my stereo system. They were both cheap houses, but they had vaulted ceilings and they were built on a concrete slab so that my turntable stand and my speakers could be spiked to the concrete slab underneath the carpet. I've discovered over the years that stereos sound better in listening rooms with ceilings higher than eight feet. My current listening room has a slanted ceiling that goes from eight feet in the rear to 14-feet in the front. Both houses were cheap, but they both sounded very good to me.

I bought my current house in 2010 for $136,000. I have a friend who's stereo system cost three times the price of my house. My stereo system cost about one-third the price of my house.

Anyway, if you want better sound, I recommend a listening room with a ceiling higher than eight-feet. If you want the best platform for your turntable, I recommend a house built on a concrete slab. Unfortunately, I have no idea as to what level of analog to stop at given your room effects. Sorry!

Good luck!
John Elison
