bought a like new CB-1L off Audiogon that was in like new condition. Thank goodness I did not pay MSRP for it, or I would be that much more put out.For a $7K arm the set up and adjusment controls are primitive and really no different than what was on $300 arms found in the 1970s. A single set screw for VTA adjustment, and no way to adjust on the fly. What makes the matters worse is its right in the same location as the counterweight, so you have to fit an allen wrench right under the counterweight. Terrible for an arm that costs this much.
The counterweight is locked by a small set screw, and the counterweight will want to move when you tighten down and it changes tracking weight. Fine for a $300 or $500 vintage arm, but not one of this cost.
No tone arm lock.
Finally the cartridge plate is terrible to set up. A large set screw that wants to move the plate whenever you loosen it. You have to lightly snug the screw to get a bit of friction to hold the plate well enough to align the cartridge and still be loose enough to turn the plate. But then you have to hold the plate while you finish snugging down the Allen bolt.
Yes the arm has great bearings, and yes the wiring is top shelf. But it better be for this kind of money. Never had a top level tonearm that was such a pain in the ass to set up. You should get more for this kind of price.
