I had an AR table, toward the end of the line, (eb 101) and was always pleased with the sound.
While belt stretch is a theoretical reality, if never observed it as a problem, in listening, or just looking at the drive as it spun.
I rate concern about belt slippage on a well designed turntable somewhat akin to being concerned with tread squirm when buying tires for the family car.
