Well got an email from Andy today, says the diamond shows almost no wear, so plenty of hours left in it.

The dealer had an "aggressive estimate" of 800 hours, but it looks like its significantly less time, as Andy says there are plenty of hours of life left in the cartridge. While he cannot estimate hours of use, he does say that the cartridge has appearances of being lightly used and well cared for. Retipping will not be necessary for quite some time.

So given the price I gave for it, and that there will be no more Proteus built, I think I did all right for a reference grade cartridge. Its on the way now, and should have it at the beginning of next week.
