Josh,
The are too many varibles in phono cartridges to allow auditioning. Since you are going with a tweaked RB-300, and would like to try the Denon line, go with a Denon 103R.
The 103D is a better match with low mass arms. Denon specs the compliance differently than other manufacturers. The listed 5 for the 103 is closer to 9 if speced by others. The 103D was designed to work with the very low mass arms popular in the 70's and early 80's.
I use a 103R in an OL RB-250 and it works great. They are available from Japan. With the gyrations in the exchange rate EIFL may have a better price. But the last one I purchased from Japan Audio Trading was less than 240.00 delivered airmail form Tokyo.George
