Every SA & GW near me prices their stuff insanely high. There doesn't seem to be a single tuner or cassette deck under $20 regardless of the number of times someone smashed it with a hammer. Because "thrifting" is such a popular pastime now, these places gouge you for all they can. Especially in the D.C. area, where college kids abound, the prices will be insane. Hey, there is a crappy generic electric guitar that has been sitting behind the counter of one for YEARS. Why? It's $150, that's why!!!Even groovy T-shirts are $5-9 a pop! These shops are supposed to be for people who cant afford anything else, not the college/high-school kid looking for a retro-tee.
As for the "electronics" guy behind the scenes, if he works at a price-gouging, overpriced crapfest like I have around me, more power to him. He just got there before I did. I hit mostly yard/estate sales now. This weekend I found an Atari 2600 with all the controllers and a stack of games for $5!!
