Re: my Japanese solid state experience

Did you go to the stereo club in Fronkfurt?
That's where I picked up my Pioneer Sx-1980 in '78.
I was with the 143rd Signal Batallion, 3AD.

"Hi-Fi Heaven" indeed.

While there is obviously better out there, I have a fondness for the late '70's japanese receivers. I recently bought the Pioneer SX-850 because it looks so nice. I own the McIntosh 4100, which sounds much better than the pioneer, but god, its butt ugly!

If you're on a budget, you can do so much better buying vintage japanese receivers rather than todays "all look the same black PVC clones" at consumer audio stores.

The Pioneer SX 50 and 80 series, The Sansui G series, and Marantz 22** series receivers were all beautiful receivers.

Let the snobs rant all they want.
