Check your local orthodontist office! They have TONS of different sized rubberbands. Rounded ones, thin ones, thick ones...I used them for about 3 years (dentally!) and used several different kinds. They hand them out by the bag-full.If you have a kid, why not make an ortho appt. for the sole reason of grabbing some rubber bands!!!!
