TEAC A-4300SX, anyone? (DC Area only)

I put part of this post in the classified section, but seeing that this is a Vintage forum, I thought I'd add a bit!

I have a TEAC A-4300SX reel-to-reel in pretty good condition, still with its plastic shell/cover intact (a couple small cracks). This thing has had very little use at all and has been stored in an A/C environment for the past 20+ years. I just acquired it and have placed it in my attic. I have absolutely no use for it at all. I ain't a reel-to-reel kinda guy! I have turned it on, the lamps work, the reel winds...but that is the extent of my testing.

I am looking for someone who wants to trade straight up for it. I am a newbie and would love a solid, 70's silver faced Pioneer tuner or cassette deck. It doesnt have to be pristine! Hell, I'd even accept a couple "slightly" broken ones if they were pretty enough!

These reel-to-reels are so darn heavy that I dont want to deal w/ e-bay on this one. If you are interested, how about e-mailing me a pic of what you got? If I like it, I'll give you a time to come over to my house and test out my reel-to-reel (bring your own speaker & test tape). I live near the 495/Springfield Interchange.

I dont just want to "collect" crap to store in my attic. I'm a utilitarian and like to USE things that I have (ignore all the boxes of books I keep in the attic, please!). I dream about having stereo systems in every room of the house! The wife won't permit it (she says I dont have to put my "stamp" in every room), but I can still dream! You can't stop a man from dreaming, can ya?!

Our HT is great...a workingman's system that does a great all-around job...but as for the rest of the house, I have no further need for video/digital equipment. I have my iMac and a 1 year old. Any more TV's would be OVERKILL (got 2 TV's in the attic as well).

I hope there is someone out there who would like to trade! If you have any questions, please post them here, rather than send them to my e-mail. That way EVERYONE can see my answer. If you want to offer a trade, you can send that direct to me.
