Record Memories in Cleveland, OH

In Cleveland we had the Record Exchange (now CD/Game Exchange) and Record Revolution just a block away from eachother on Coventry Rd. In the late 80's my little brother and I would get our dad to drive us up to the stores and we would just wander the aisles looking at all these cool LP's of groups we never heard of. If we were lucky, dad would give us a few bucks to buy something with.

The first LP I ever bought (actually, my first recorded piece of music PERIOD) was The Police's "Ghost In the Machine." I must have been 8 or 9. I bought it from the Record Den in University Heights, OH, on Cedar Rd. Even after 20+ years I still remember being fascinated with the inner sleeve. As for the songs, I remember Invisible Sun more than any other. I still have that LP, too.

While I'm at it, one more Record Den memory. I remember going in and DYING for a copy of Joan Jett & the Blackhearts new LP ( The one with I Love Rock & Roll). When I got there, there were some cute girls at the counter (I must have been 10) and was so embarrassed to be purchasing an album w/ a hot chick on the cover that I put it back and bought a DEVO cassette!
