Technics SL-1900 repair?

Damn! Thought I had a great piece...until I plugged it in! The "stroboscope" lit up for a second then nothing. The piece seems 100% except for a little part of the power cord that might have been nibbled by a mouse! I opened it up (I am no expert...barely a novice, actually) and didnt notice any broken parts or loose pieces of plastic. All soldering seems to be intact. There is a little fuse that appears to be just fine as well.

If nobody here has any ideas, are there any inexpensive online repair shops? The places around me are way expensive and I dont think the unit is worth more than a $40-50 repair.

If you know of a glitch or common prob w/ this unit, please describe in the SIMPLEST terms! Thanks!
