Rebuilding vintage solid-state amplifiers and receivers, the main high voltage capacitors are replaced. I use no larger than 2.5 times the original capacitance. I believe no benefits exists exceeding 2.5 times higher capacitance and perhaps too high a peak to average short duration current results. There is only so much power transformer capacity. What is your power supply re-design limits?
