RE: Two things.

thank you, very helpful. I have at least one cap rebuild kit for the 101 somewhere, I will do that job and if it does not include the tone control cap I will replace it from mouser or digikey.

I will test with backup speakers about the tone bypass switch. If memory serves it only partially prevented the problem.

I am a pretty good solderer but not trained in electronics theory so I am wothless when it comes to troubleshooting.
