Still the question remains - ARE THEY THAT GOOD ?

Never from my perspective. It's all about cosmetics. Like that of McIntosh aficionados. But there's likely money to be made by flippers.

The first and last receiver I owned was an Electrophonic T600 acquired when I was 13.

After getting an AR Integrated two years later (and hated), I moved on to separates by age 16.
