"In my experience, all the high quality items are snapped up immediately and paid for within the first hour"
- Yes, that is sometimes the case if the items are priced right, desirable and, or have room for re-sale.
"I missed a $400 Thorens TD-124 within the first minute in Tacoma, Washington"
- Of course it was, price was too low, even parts units command more.
"Of course, some things, especially the expensive items in this sale, will go slower because of the very high asking price."
- Maybe, it all depends on who attends. This sale is also advertised on .Net, so there is national exposure. I don't think the prices are "very high".
" Even then, buyers will negotiate with the seller for everything at the sale."
- Not at our sales and most of the other providers here in Portland. We do not discount on the first day. On the last day, items $50.00 & under are 1/2 price and items over $50.00 are always bid items. Bidders fill out a bid form and we call the high bidders on 2:00pm Sunday. We generally are way too busy, at the sales, to negotiate each item.
