Wild guess. These were equalized with old tube amps with low damping factor. I wouldn't use old transistor amps, not as reliable as modern solid state amps and very high damping factor. Unfortunately all I can think of is costly like a used Pass amp, a good solid state amp with low damping factor because of no global feedback. There may be others but off the top of my head I'm not sure.
