Guitar amp update years later.....

Five years ago I asked about vintage guitar amps for my son to use. Got a number of helpful reply's. Thanks again to all of you.

Update. Three years ago my son got more serious I bought him a used early Ampeg Jet fairly rare as I still can't find a schematic for it. Anyway I was able to rebuild the power supply and get it quiet and running nice.

My son Chris now brings his buddys who own newer powerful SS amps they all love the Ampeg.

So, Fenderlover we looked at the Fender Vibro Pro and a few other Fenders, my son was not impressed with their sound.
Thinking of a mid to late 60's Bandmaster. They don't get much love seem to fit what he wants and don't cost an arm and a leg. Is there any other vintage head unit you all would have us look at? Maybe something under the radar that will cost <1K? Something I can rebuild myself?
