RE: That which I enjoy and am most familiar (longish)

I do things a little differently from many of the respondents. I like to use jazz recordings to test imaging. Sounds odd, I know, but if I can hear clearly the different mixes the engineers have made

Whatever works best for you!

an ARC SP-8, various McIntosh amps/receivers, and an ARC VT 100 MK II.

Nice stuff. I've used both an SP-6C and SP-9 MKIII to drive a VT100 MKII. Here's a pic from 2001 just before I covered the bass traps, aka rolled insulation. :)



Are these now considered vintage?

I think the SP8 would classify as vintage as it was released more than thirty years ago. The VT100 was released in '96, so some may say it's not quite old enough.
