Home Vintage Asylum

Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

Doesn't make it better...

I've spent literally hundreds and hundreds on "newer" cartridges. I keep going back to my old Shure 91 and my Empire 2000/II. The newest cart I have kept is one of the last V-15 Shure produced. I still think the 91 sounds every bit as good. The trick for the old cartridges is finding a great replacement stylus. The Empire does very well with the phanstiel(sp?) Or a Nice. Set up carefully sounds as good as a genuine Empire. I've done a lot of tweeking and comparisons over the last 12 years on this.
