The phono stages I've had all put the L- and R- at chassis ground, but I'm sure there are some out there that float them, so RTFM.

Regardless of the arm, the 4 pins on the cartridge connect to the two RCA plugs, with the "+" connected to the pins and the "-" connected to the shields. Then experiment to see what needs to be connected to the ground lug on the phono stage. Generally the tonearm body should be connected. Depending on the turntable, you might have to also include the turntable chassis. In my case, the L-, R-, tonearm body, and turntable chassis all connect to the ground lug. I use shielded cables, with the shield unconnected at the turntable end, and also connected to the ground lug at the preamp end.
