Classic gear from yesteryear; vintage audio standing the test of time.

I am looking to buy this wonderful receiver. The seller let me take it for the weekend to check it out. Here is what I have found so far:
It is a beautiful piece of audio gear.
It is heavy.
The tuning dial is stuck at the very far left of the dial.
Looks like the CRT is lit up on its back side - that's all I am able to ascertain at this point.
Switches and knobs are intermittent.
I tried it out not knowing how long it had not been played.
Playing a CD through aux gives an unbelievable organic sound that almost belies description.

Can anyone recommend protocol to get this operating as it should?
