Refurbed the p/s sections, cathode follower output/tone control amp sections on my Fisher 400-CX-2 and have about 50 hours on it. Good results, not great. I was expecting more and even thought that maybe it wasn't worth completing. Not! Finished the low filter/phase reverse amp sections last night- Oh boy! Now she's starting to sing!
Question- does the center channel outputs section need to be refurbed? I have the tube pulled now. Is it in the circuit when not being used?
IMO one has to reburb these old masterpieces to hear there full potential and I'm not even finished yet.
The phono section is going to be a bear. A lot of stuff jammed in there. There is enough room the left for a new RIAA network.
Kudos to Mike and Interstage again for sharing their knowledge.
Pic of my Fisher President console, not quite complete yet.
