RE: A new preamp? Opinions, please...

Have not heard the Creek but have heard good things about it. I would say with your very efficient speakers, you don't need much gain. I would say you would be in the law of diminishing returns and a preamp with remote for < $1 k would not yield much better sound. The amp/speaker combo strikes me as a good match.

What you could do if you identify one is to purchase it and AB it in your system and sell the one that sounds worse.
