Recommendations on a vintage or modern receiver.

I need some suggestions on what receiver to buy for my son as a graduation present. It can be vintage or modern, whichever might be compatable with my large Advent two-way speakers (bought those in 1971) and a Dual 1245 turntable. My budget is about $700.00. Thanks.
