Phil- If you want to give DIY a go (which I recommend) get a refoam kit from a guy name Rick Cobb (rcobb(AT)tampabay.rr.com ) Everyone (including myself) over at Lansing Heritage Society ( The BEST JBL website )uses Rick's foam kits and I've heard nothing but praise for his products. The nice thing is that he gives you a 30Hz test tone CD with the refoam kit, that you play through the speaker being repaired while glueing the foam to the basket and it centers the voice coil perfectly, no rubs!. Otherwise you would need to remove the dust cap and shim the voice coil, glue the foam to the basket, and then reinstall a new dustcap (which usually doesn't look as good as the original. There is a very good pictoral at LHS that describes in detail how to do a complete refoam step by step, inch by inch, slowly I turn.... (whoops,.. sorry!) There is also a guy on Ebay that sells aftermarket Delrin grill pegs (do a search) for $3.00 a piece that are better (stronger) than the originals (IMHO).Finally, if you want to do do it all (or most of it), there is also a guy at LHS called Zilch that has some authentic original JBL blue grill cloth that he will sell you for a resonable price. The only trouble that you might have is not wanting to sell the speakers when you're finished because they look and sound so good. Whatever you decide, most of all, have fun !!, regards, wpod
