Re: Capacitor question - type

Depending on budget, the best priced/performance may be Illionois Cap's MWR from Vacuumtube.com. Obviously Orange Drop 716P is also very good and cost effective. DIYCable.com has some nice ICW caps that aren't too expensive.

I like Auricaps if you have more money. I've done AudioCaps in a Xover but didn't like them in an amp I tried them in. I haven't heard Kimbers. Some of favorites are the green Russian PIO's you can on Ebay. Very nice sound on those. Searching out some nice PIO are usually worth the trouble. I think it emparts a very full musical tone to music. Less edginess.

Best advice I have is to use a few different types so that the sound is not indicative of any particular cap, but a combination of sounds. I like PIO mixed with poly caps if the poly caps are good enough.

As far as resistors I couldn't say. Haven't played with those as much....yet:)
