By all means give it a try....I'm using vintage mac (M-2105,C-28, MR-77) with 3 year old Legacy Audio Focus speakers and could'nt be happier with the reproduction.
If your worried about having enough power for your Proac's try any autoformer coupled Mac amp, you won't have any problems.
