Re: Beauty contest

Ditto on the Paragon. Any speaker with a dark wood finish and light woven fabric grill (Advent, Dynaco, AR) look wonderful as well.

I've always liked the look of mid 70s Kenwood and Marantz receivers and Quad seperates from the 80s and like the simple look of the Dynaco stuff.

For turntables, the ARXA is beautiful in its understated simplicity as are most of the Thorens. Some don't care for it but I think the Garrard Zero 100 was a work of art, visually.

CD players and tape decks have been mostly ugly, although I like the look of most any cassette deck with VU meters. The industrial look of early NAD worked for me as well.

I've always had this thing for anything Danish modern so you could just about bunch anything along those lines into my picks.
