On looking at these in my Allied catalog thoe W60 (the D at least) had a rather interesting dome (not cone) tweeter that looks along the same lines as Acoustic Research used in the AR 5 and 3a.
I hope it can be brought back to life with new caps. The old caps are probably NP's. I would be tempted to get new NP caps and Mylar caps of the same value as the originals, and try both in sequence. Build one speaker out with the NP's and the other in Mylar and compare. It might be that the Mylar caps would add just the extra touch of brightness that is needed. This is a near costless and fun experiment as an NP cap is way under $1 at PE and a Mylar $3 or so.My experience in working with plummy speakers with mid-bass warmth suggests that a little extra oomph at the very top tends to make the overall balance better w/o having to touch the mid or woof.
