This was Wharfedale's flagship floorstander back then before the company was bought out. You all may be more familiar with the Harwood which was from the same period but a standmount.Anyway, the Vanguards were part of the V-Series that also comprised of the Ventana.
Both were horn speakers. The Vanguard was a 3way using a horn a 5 inch mid fibre driver and a 10inch fibre woofer. 820mm high 342mm wide and 350mm deep and weigh 90lbs each. 40hz-23khz 95db sensitive 175w max RMS and have two contour controls one each of the mid range and the tweeter to totally control them(basically adjust their crossover points to help you control for room acoustics etc).
Question. Are these old enough to count as vintage...I'm finally looking to sell em and go for an Audio Note 2-way standmount...but I can't find any price info on the Wharfedales ...they were areound $2,000.00 list back in 1990.
There was a repair shop nearby who had seen these coming in to to replace rubber seals, but said they were a pretty popular speaker.
Yet No one seems to ever have heard of them...I know Wharfedale isn't the bees knees anymore but.....
