W60s are 2 ways are ported 2 ways. I got confused with the model numbers. Also, on closer examination, what I thought was a hole for the tweeter, appears to be a port. I have no experience with pre W series, but since the cabinet is quite different from my W60, I suspect you are right about them being pre W series. My W60s do not have a shelf and the grill has a cross brace. I was going by what the cabinets looked like. I actually have a pair of W-60's and W-90's. These 2 pair of Warfedales that I own, are the only Warfedale speakers from this era that I have ever seem. Information on the web is sparse to say the least!
In both pairs the cabinets and in the case of the W-60's, the drivers don't exactly match, so I suspect both stated life out playing mono. The W90’s have 1st order crossovers with capacitors, inductors and pots. The W60 just has a capacitor and a pot. I consider this a crossover, but I gather you don’t. Coner states “L-pad(or pot) on back panel, crossover cap mounted on inside back panel”. (I missed this when I read it before.) So his crossover (or lack thereof) is the same as mine. Could this be the precursor to the W60? There are some strong similarities but also some differences. The drivers are definitely Warfedales and that appears to be a Warfedale badge on the grill.
