Perhaps one of you could help me with something. I've had their 40C speakers since 66 or so when they were new. One of the woofers "blew out" about a year after a I had them. Being in the business at the time the local rep simply had them ship me a new woofer. When I got out of the service in the early 70's, a woof blew again. By then, Wharfedale had slipped out of view here in the USA and I was at the mercy of a local stereo shop. He suggested I get 'em both done and it sounded like a good idea at the time.
When I got them back, they looked different. And they sounded different also. I pulled out my "spare" blown woofer and noticed that the surround was NOT the extremely compliant half round shiny rubber like substance like on the original speaker. That explained the sound.
To make a long story short, is there any way I can get these woofs repaired to sound like the originals? I'm not lookingfor a museum type repair, just restoring the original balance is what I want.
I stll have the original blown woofer FWIW.
Thanks. This has been a peeve of mine for almost 30 years.
