Re: VINTAGE WHARFEDALE W60 W-60 SPEAKERS

I have refurbished a pair of W70D's and really like them. I don't know if they are the most accurate speakers I own (KEF 104ab&105, Yamaha NS-1000) but they sound the fullest and are very rich. Very good on instrumentals. They are a four-way and use the semi-famous purple mylar dome tweeters. I believe the W70's(no"D") and probably the W60's are three-ways and use an alnico cone tweeter. I think I read a Brian Levy post where he said he liked the older tweeters better. The purple tweeters are fragile and often are open coil. They are hard to replace because they are very efficient so it's hard to find an alternative and although they come up on Ebay fairly frequently there's always competition for them. Email me if you have other questions.
